The harsh reality of United's reliance on Rooney was all too evident as United's grip on the title became all the more tenuous in a dour 0-0 draw at Blackburn. Despite dominating most of the game, United created few chances and showed yet again why a second world class striker should be top of the shopping list in the off-season. The question seems to be not whether Chelsea will drop points, but whether United can win all four remaining games! Match Reports has all the unfortunate details. |

Perhaps it was wishful thinking for Reds fans to expect United to raise their game sufficiently enough without Rooney to beat tital rivals Chelsea. Despite Drogba stealing a goal which was clearly offside, United were second best for most of this game, raising more questions as to United's ability to four-peat. If United do fail, questions will be asked as to why Ferguson refused to bring another top striker in the off-season, relying on the likes of Berbatov, Owen, Welbeck et al. To make matters worse, the Gooners stole a 1-0 victory against 10-man Wolves with literally the last kick of the game. Match Reports will provide you with details of the 90+ minutes with photos from the Main Event in the photo galleries. |

They say football is a game of inches...case in point, the header by Vidic which hit the bar, which would have made the game 2-1 United. Instead the Serbian's fine effort was followed by Bayern's second goal. But truth be told, Bayern were the better team on the day and as Ferguson said, perhaps it would have been better for United not to score so early. With the exception of Van Der Sar who was at his brilliant best, this was a fairly average performance. See Match Reports for the details and let's hope Rooney's injury isn't as bad as it looked at the end of the game. |
